The lives that were taken from us shall not disappear. They will be more lasting than any physical monument. For these missing lives will serve as charges to all surviving Americans to make our nation more able to defend its citizenry against such terrible and senseless acts. And we shall all cherish our loved ones with a renewed sense of gratefulness.

Because of these lost Americans, generation after generation of sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers shall live their lives in full, as they should have been able to live theirs.

May they rest in peace knowing that so many others will owe their long lives to them.
